Before CKonnect became a name in data privacy circles, before templates, tools, and training took centre stage, there was CK Connect to Know (ckconnect.xyz). Yet to be added to our Archives.
That’s right. Back in the pre-pandemic haze, we weren’t dreaming about DPIAs or data protection laws. We were just law students, fumbling through internships and career confusion, with one clear instinct:
Teach what we wish we had known.
CLAT Coaching, Blogs & a Bold Beginning
ckconnect.xyz (yes, with a dot xyz) was born as a CLAT preparation platform — a tiny effort with a massive heart. We ran:
- Legal blogs and current affairs explainers
- Internship listings and career guides
- Free mentoring for students
- A side mission to bust myths in the legal field
It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t funded. But it mattered. Because every time we saw a junior skip a mistake we made, it felt like we were moving the needle.
From the start, education and empowerment weren’t side projects. They were the core.
The Job Opportunist Experiment
Then came CK Job Opportunist — our attempt to play matchmaker between law students and recruiters. We were:
- Coaching students on CVs, interviews, and soft skills
- Coordinating mock interviews
- Trying to get shortlists through cold reach-outs and warm intros
It was messy. Raw. Half-tech, half-heart.
But post-COVID, the market was spinning in confusion. Recruiters weren’t hiring. Students were burnt out. And like many post-pandemic dreams, CK Job Apportionment didn’t scale.
Pause. Reflect. Pivot.
Life happened. Careers got redirected. Personal trials entered the chat. The vision blurred.
But sometimes, things need to break before they build right.
And that’s when the shift happened — from legal ed to privacy and compliance.
Why? Because the founders were moving into the data privacy space. And once again, the urge returned:
“We struggled so others don’t have to.”
Just like we guided CLAT aspirants, just like we tried to help job-seeking juniors — now we were back, with a renewed mission:
Demystify global data privacy for professionals and companies.
The Birth of CKonnect (The Grown-Up Version)
Today, CKonnect is no longer a student project.
It’s a multi-vertical brand with a sharp vision:
- CourseKonnect – training privacy pros across the world
- Priv ComplyKonnect – compliance services to make businesses privacy-resilient
- E-PrivJournals, Live Events, and more in the pipeline
But the soul? Still the same.
We’re still teaching. Still guiding. Still holding the flashlight in dark, jargon-filled corners.
Why This Story Matters
Because your favorite startups didn’t start as startups.
They started as blogs. As classes. As ideas. As rejections. As late-night brainstorms between students who didn’t want others to suffer like they did.
